The expert organization Proxion has won an extensive tender for a rail transport project in Estonia. The contract is worth more than € 1 million and is aimed at the railway network interlocking and safety device reform that is starting in Estonia. The large-scale entity covers almost the entire railway network managed by AS Eesti Raudtee – the section to be renewed is approximately 500 kilometers long and includes almost 50 yards. The project is scheduled for 2019-2024 and will be implemented by Proxion in collaboration with construction consultant Welado. Proxion is responsible for the overall coordination of the project, acts as the author of the interlocking device specifications and plans, and produces the necessary technical documents for future procurement documents. Welado is responsible for producing the procurement documents required for the tender and for supporting the contracting party, AS Eesti Raudtee, in connection with the actual tender.
“The strategic significance of the project for Proxion is notable in terms of both internationalization and growth. With the project, we will also make extensive use of our railway expertise in Estonia and export good practices from Finland to Estonia. In addition to this, we gain a valuable understanding of the Estonian market. After the end of the project, we will have a thorough knowledge of the Estonian railway system,” believes Mikko Saarinen, Business Director of Design Services at Proxion.
A challenging project that requires expertise has far-reaching employment implications.
The agreement was signed on August 16th 2019 in Tallinn and work on the project will start immediately.
“The sleeves have been rolled up and we are starting the work on the project with great enthusiasm“, – Mikko Saarinen
